Frequently asked questions

Why should I use Local Farm Box, and not my local supermarket delivery service?

Local Farm Box is acting as a sales window for the district's farmers and independent producers. Purchasing your fresh vegetables, fruits, salads, meats, bread, cakes and dairy products from
Local Farm Box means that you will be directly contributing to the local economy - helping to put the £ back into local producers' pockets. Local Farm Box is confident of beating the supermarket on price - especially for their veg, fruits, salads and herbs. It can call on four generations of experience of trading fresh produce to customers. Locally-sourced produce will be fresher, and therefore tastier than what is offered in the supermarkets. For the more environmentally-conscious, it is clear that the food road miles - i.e. the number of miles from product source to your doorstep

- will be far less than the major supermarkets. What's more there is no delivery charge, if orders are over £35.00!

Where does our produce come from?

We will strive to source all seasonal produce from our network of local farmers and growers within our delivery area. However, to ensure variety of choice we also reserve the right to use other South-West markets (especially Bristol Fruit Market) to source vegetables, fruits, herbs and salads that cannot be grown in our region. The region will provide more vegetables and greens in the winter months and a wider mix of vegetables, salads and fruits in the summer months. Our meats are supplied by Ivan Clarke. Dairy products, eggs, bread, cakes, jams and chutneys are all produced and supplied by local companies.

How frequently should I receive a delivery?

How often as you like! You can either have a one-off order, or else sign-up for a regular delivery. It really is completely up to you. You are able to select your delivery option as you go through the ordering process

What if I go on holiday?

We all need a holiday... and again there are options! If you have signed up for a regular delivery and you need to hold off an order for a period then you can simply enter your account and select the dates from which you want to postpone and to resume a regular delivery. Otherwise, just give us a call on 01271 869191. We'd appreciate notice 48 hours in advance. Currently, our customer service team are in operation between the hours of 8am to 2pm Monday to Saturday. There is an answer machine message service outside of these hours. Dropping us an email

48 hours in advance will also do the trick. sales@localfarmbox.co.uk

What time will my box arrive?

It is hard to tell you the exact time of day you will receive your first delivery, but subsequent deliveries are likely to be made around the same time of day. Although not a guarantee, the normal delivery time will be late morning through to lunchtime.

What if I not in when my deliver arrives?

We have many customers who issue instructions as to where to leave their box if they are out. In fact, the ordering process for this website enables you the facility to leave such an instruction. If there is no special instruction then the driver will look to leave for the box in a safe place
- this could be at the back door, inside the garden gate, or with your neighbour. We can also deliver your order to your work, or to a friend or neighbours address.

How do you pack my meat order for transit?

Westgate Farm in Muddiford, and Freebird Poultry in Georgeham are our partners for all meat products purchased via the website. They have many years experience with packing and sending meat orders to customers all over the region. All meat orders are packed in insulated sealed boxes, and taken out only when the driver arrives at a customer's door. The boxes are picked

up by a Local Farm Box driver on the morning of the delivery day. Clearly, it is preferable that someone is in when the driver arrives, though again you are able to to leave an instruction in case you are not in.

What if I do not like, or am allergic to certain items?

Contents for the different boxes are presented on our website the Friday before the upcoming delivery week. If there is an item within your box that you really don't want to receive then do let us know - by email or phone. We will be only too happy to replace the item with an alternative. We don't like the idea of you having to chuck anything away!

What do I do with my empty box?

Please keep them and return to our driver the next time you receive an order from us. When emptied, the boxes are designed to fold flat for easy storage. We want to encourage reuse
– not only for environmental considerations, but also for economic reasons. If looked after, the boxes are designed to be reused many times.

What if I receive an item in my delivery that I am not satisfied with?

Contact us via phone or email and we will makeup any unsatisfactory items in your next delivery. We guarantee our produce and strive for 100% customer satisfaction.
