A honeydew has a round to slightly oval shape, typically 15–22cm long. The flesh is pale green in colour, while the smooth peel ranges from greenish to yellow. A honeydew should feel heavy for its size and have a waxy (not fuzzy) surface. ""Honeydew"" is in fact the American name for the White Antibes cultivar which has been grown for many years in southern France and Algeria. Honeydew's thick, juicy, sweet flesh is often eaten for dessert. Cut into segments, remove the seeds, and enjoy the flesh.
Honeydew melon is low in Sodium, and very low in Saturated Fat and Cholesterol. It is also a good source of Vitamin B6, Folate and Potassium, and a very good source of Vitamin C.
Keep unripe melons at room temperature to ripen, which may take up to 1 week. Ripe mangoes can be kept in the refrigerator for up to a week.
